Josh Smith is beginning to make himself at home in a Toronto Blue Jays uniform.

With the Blue Jays putting together one of their biggest offensive performances of the month Tuesday night, Smith delivered another huge swing, launching a two-run home run against the Tampa Bay Rays as Toronto rolled to an impressive 10–5 victory.

It was Smith’s second home run of the 2026 season, and both have come since joining the Blue Jays.

His latest blast was part of an offensive explosion that saw Toronto collect 17 hits and receive home runs from Smith, Alejandro Kirk and Kazuma Okamoto.

For a Blue Jays team fighting for a postseason position, it was exactly the kind of offensive performance Toronto needed.

Josh Smith Puts the Finishing Touch on a Huge Night

By the time Smith stepped up and delivered his home run, Toronto had already done plenty of damage.

One of the biggest reasons he can help Toronto is versatility.

Smith can give the Blue Jays options defensively while also providing another capable bat.

Against Tampa Bay, Toronto was able to use Smith while shifting other pieces around the diamond.

That flexibility becomes extremely valuable late in a season.

Having someone capable of contributing in several different roles gives John Schneider more freedom when building his lineup.

The Blue Jays pounded Tampa Bay pitching for 17 hits.

Alejandro Kirk provided one of Toronto’s first major swings.

With Nathan Lukes aboard, Kirk launched a two-run home run to left-centre in the third inning.

After Bateman added another run, it was Smith’s turn.
